March 22, 2010

Saturday I took Cinn back to the dog park. She ran around for half an hour in the cold, morning air. She absolutely loves the park and started vigorously trying to get out of her seat as we rounded the last corner before the park.

Sunday we went to Kamloops for Tracie's movie and spinning session. Cinn got to come and loved the ride. Once in Kamloops, she was pretty happy to just ride around. Most of all though, she loved her walk up Oriele road and getting to sit with me on the Starbucks patio to watch the people stroll by. The fact that the day was topped off by a sirloin uncle burger was just icing on the cake for her (it was on sale cheaper than a mama burger).

Both Monday and Sunday she had to have an ear cleaning because her ear infection was particularly bothersome to her those days. She did not even object to it very vigorously on Monday, seeming to understand the necessity.

I took Snoob for a walk in the Walmart parking lot on Wednesday. I felt bad, but Trace needed to shop for a few things after school. In spite of the less than spectacular venue for a walk, the little hound was as happy as ever. Everything was pretty uneventful, with the exception of both of us nearly sinking into the mud when we walked near a huge snow pile.

On Thursday we went to the new dog park. Snoob ran around sniffing everything in the park while I waited at a picnic table. She kept running back to make sure that I knew that she was there, but she really loved sniffing everything. The park is pretty nice, although it is the same place where Finn hopped into the river a decade ago and nearly got swept away. All in all though, it was a fun time.

Yesterday I did not get home until 5 because I had to speak to someone at the ministry. When I did get home, the little pup went berserk. She ran back and forth to the door until I found her leash. We invited Trace to go with us, and she seemed to want to. We went to her place at the lookout over the valley. We sat and watched the ducks for a while before returning home.

March 13, 2010

This spring break flew by. Cinn and I did not manage to get out for much more than a few walks because the weather was awful. We played inside a fair bit, but this is not any substitute for time outside. We went on a few car rides and walked down to the river by Forksdale, but we'll have to do way more fun stuff next week.

March 6, 2010

The week flew by. Cinn and I took Tracie with us on a trip to Starbucks. When we sat on the patio, we found quickly that we were sitting with some "dog people". Cinnamon sat there and lavished in their praises, as they regaled her about how cute she was. She got loads of attention from three people at another table, and got petted by an older gentleman who wanted to talk about Labradors.

Somehow, she seemed to realize that Sunday morning was Sunday morning. As I dozed in the bath, she started getting restless. By the time that I got out, she was pacing and whining. When I got out into the hallway, I asked her what was up. Assuming that she wanted to go outside, I followed her to the door. As we got there though, she made it clear that she actually did not want to go outside. Running to the front door, she sat and looked at her leash. I petted her and headed back toward the other door. She ducked under my hand, stayed by the front, whined, and waited.

Getting her message, I hooked her leash up. Contented, she waited for me to get the keys and head out to the car in my pyjamas. Rather than going to the back of the car, she got into her customary spot for Sunday mornings-- the passenger seat. We drove off to McDonald's, hit the drive thru, and she enjoyed her usual Sunday morning treat. Well, this time it was unusual because it was bacon, rather than sausage. As usual though, the lady praised and petted her through the window.
